This Asian wooden carving is a tall standing figure carved in warm reddish-brown wood, depicting a robed man in a wide brimmed hat with his hands drawn into his sleeves. The carving is worked in deep relief, with the folds of the robe cut in long vertical lines that follow the length of the piece. Mounted flat against the wall, this wood carving suits an entryway, a hallway, or a study where a narrow vertical space needs filling.
