Copper Oxide, Black (Cupric)

Available from Seattle Pottery Supply when we last checked. Sold from the shop’s own store; the price there is the one that counts.

Copper Oxide, Black (CuO) is a black copper oxide used in ceramics as a colorant and flux in glazes. It produces green, turquoise, and blue tones depending on the glaze composition and firing atmosphere, particularly in oxidation or reduction firings. It is commonly used in high-fire stoneware and porcelain glazes to achieve earthy and vibrant effects. Dust can irritate the respiratory system, eyes, and skin. Always wear gloves, a dust mask or respirator, and work in a well-ventilated area. Lear
