Dating to circa 1870, this Victorian silver and niello locket features an exotic bird with dramatically sweeping plumage, rendered in raised, finely textured metalwork with darkened surfaces and gold-colored highlights. Beneath the bird, an engraved botanical composition of curling vines, detailed leaves, and clusters of raised berries creates a richly layered scene.
