Circa 1900. This beautifully carved Victorian shell cameo depicts a classical pastoral scene with two figures and playful putti beneath a tree. The high-relief carving shows lovely detail in the faces, drapery, and landscape, with soft tonal transitions that come only from hand-carved shell. Set in a simple 14KT gold bezel, likely rolled gold, this piece would have originally been worn as a brooch but can also be adapted as a pendant.
