Victorian Sterling Silver Watch Chain

This 17-inch Victorian watch chain, circa 1880, is crafted in sterling silver (925) and features alternating elongated bar links and decorative twisted links. The chain is fitted with a swivel clasp and a suspended T-bar, originally designed to secure a pocket watch through a waistcoat buttonhole. Hallmarks are visible on the fittings. A functional accessory of Victorian gentleman's dress, watch chains are now frequently repurposed as necklaces, with the T-bar worn as a decorative focal point.
