NHL Open Ice 2 on 2 Challenge for the PlayStation is Midway's arcade hockey game, ported from their 1995 coin-op cabinet and arriving on PS1 in 1996. The game strips hockey down to its most chaotic fundamentals: two players per side, a full NHL license with real teams and players from the 1995-96 season, and none of the penalties, offsides, or icing rules that govern the simulation hockey games of the same era. Two-minute brawls on ice, essentially, with real names and jerseys attached. Gameplay
