The zoo takes up the whole west slope of this ridge (Guy Phinney kept the grounds as his private estate until the city bought them), and the shops line the crest where Phinney Ave N hands off to Greenwood Ave N. On a clear day you get the Olympics between houses to the west and the Cascades over Green Lake to the east.
